Our site was created using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) version 3.0a and tested with that and Netscape Navigator (NN) Gold version 3.01. There are a couple of differences that we have noticed. First, applets seem to run a little faster in IE, the graphics seem a little more polished in IE, and IE has a marquee tag which does not work in NN. In NN, we have found it easier to use and maintain our favorite links, and there are some JavaScript statements which do not work in IE. Apart from that, both browsers are pretty much the same.

Why we chose IE to begin our development is simple to answer: IE is an integrated part of Microsoft's Visual J++. When we started our web development, it was writting applets for a client/server environment. Only after that did we begin to play around with HTML and by then we had already used IE quite a bit.

We cannot recommend either one over the other so we say you should try both and decide yourself which one you like the most.
